Letter-grade cutoffs out of 45
- A (90% and above): 40.5–45 points — 41 or more in whole points
- B (80% to below 90%): 36 to below 40.5
- C (70% to below 80%): 31.5 to below 36
- D (60% to below 70%): 27 to below 31.5
- F (below 60%): below 27

How to calculate a grade out of 45
Divide the points earned by 45, then multiply by 100. For example, 44 out of 45 is 44 ÷ 45 × 100 = 97.78%, and 38 out of 45 is 84.44%. Percentages in the chart are rounded to two decimals, but the letter grade is based on the exact value.
If the test has questions with different point values, add up the possible points first. A test with 45 questions is only an "out of 45" test when every question is worth the same amount.
