About GradeKind
GradeKind is a free grade calculator that runs in your browser. It's made for teachers who want a quick, correct percentage and letter grade, partial credit included, without making an account or sending student data anywhere.
Methodology
The percentage is Earned ÷ Total × 100, using whatever you enter (questions or points). Normal computer math can be off by a tiny fraction, and that matters when a score sits right on a grade boundary, so GradeKind uses exact decimal math instead. The letter grade comes from the exact percentage and your grading scale. The decimal setting only changes what you see on screen. How It Works has the full explanation with examples.
Scope and grading policies
The A/B/C/D/F scale in the calculator is an editable example, not an official standard for any school, district or country. Set it to match your school. To see what a student still needs on a final exam, open the Final Grade Calculator. Questions mode assumes every question is worth the same. Use Points mode for different point values or partial credit.
Check a result
For a 20-point assignment with 16.5 points earned, the percentage is 82.5%. On the default scale, that is a B. Open Show calculation to see the math, and check that the scale matches your school's. If a result looks wrong, report the issue with a made-up example.
Data and privacy
Everything is calculated in your browser. GradeKind doesn't collect student names, IDs or scores, and you don't need to register. Your grading scale is saved on your own device only. The Privacy page has the details.
